- CompTIA A+ Core Series: All you need to know!
The former CompTIA A+ certification test has been superseded with CompTIA A+ Core Series. This is the test to study for if you want to get your CompTIA A+ certification.
Make sure the title of any study materials you utilize includes the words “Core Series.” If you don’t, you might be wasting time studying topics that are no longer tested or terminology that are no longer utilized.
The ComTIA A+ Certification Exam was withdrawn in July 2019 and was replaced by the CompTIA A+ Core Series Exam. As a result, anybody who has attempted certification since June 2019 has been given the revised test.
You’re undoubtedly aware that the world of information technology is quickly evolving. For example, since the previous test, there has been a greater emphasis on mobile technologies and reliance on the “cloud.”
These subjects, as well as many others, have been included to the tested content to ensure that your certification covers all current technology. To stay up with all of the changes, CompTIA updates its exams every three years.
No! Two different exams still exist, but the numbers are different. Many sections of the previously tested content still covered by the new test are also included.
However, new ideas were introduced and the study materials adjusted to cover better what you need to know at the moment. For information, please see the following paragraphs.
First, the new tests are numbered 1001 and 1002, instead of 901 and 902.
Content has been added as well. In this comparison, these are the differences between the old and new tests:
Old Tests

2.0 Networking
3.0 Mobile Devices
4.0 Hardware and Network Troubleshooting
902
1.0 Windows Operating Systems
2.0 Other Operating Systems and Technologies
3.0 Security
4.0 Software Troubleshooting
5.0 Operational Procedures
New Tests
1001
1.0 Mobile Devices
2.0 Networking
3.0 Hardware
4.0 Virtualization and Cloud Computing
5.0 Hardware and Network Troubleshooting
1002

Informative piece of advice: Regardless of how old study materials are, using them just wastes time while studying for the 901 and 902 exams.
However, it’s more efficient to utilize current study resources, like Union Test Prep’s CompTIA A+ Core Series resources. Learn guides, practice questions, and flashcards were created for each area to help you study and test your abilities. This way, you may use the most current information when preparing.
